| Dr. William K. "Bill" Ghrist, with wife June, was a successful ophthalmologist in Glendale, California. In 1969 he was led of the Lord to go to Mombasa, Kenya. He saw a great need there. Only about 20% of the country was Christian and medical facilities were poor. Dr. Ghrist established a home and began treating the people of Kenya out of his residence. Only those that could afford it were asked to pay. Dr. Ghrist began telling the people of Kenya about Jesus. They listened because they knew he cared about them. Now almost 40% of the country is considered Christian. |
